I need to do the brakes on my '49 Super A. What is the best way to remove the axle housing? Should I jack up the tractor, and remove the whole wheel and axle assembly together, or jack the tractor, remove the wheel, and then try to pull the axle housing off? I assume the housing weighs 100lbs+, so I'll get help. There is no convenient way to grab onto the axle housing, it appears. Also, I have the I&T manual, but are there any small parts that might fall out upon removing the axle housing? I don't want to create more problems than I'm trying to solve. Other than replacing the seals and brake bands, is there any other maintenance I should do while it's apart? I'll remove the bull gear covers, and clean out all the oil and sludge in them, while the axle housing is off. Thanks! Steve
