Nice to hear you got your GrandPa's tractor. But my only question is who went wrong down the line from the W-30 and went green? Seriously though it sounds like a head gasket, but I strongly urge you to examine the lower end of the engine. Generally when a head gasket leaks, water will seep past the rings and infiltrate the oil in the crank. The next time you run it your oil will turn very nasty and stop lubricating all those critical bearings. It was even worse when you put anti-freeze in it without checking the head gasket. That stuff is murder on bearings! I bet that you oil is very contaminated and will lead to serious engine problems if you don't change it and the oil filter. These tractors are not really known for cracking heads, but the blocks can be easily cracked just above the crankcase by leaving just a small amount of water in the block. The sleeves last forever. As for books, the I&T manual is just a copy of original IH manuals. so it is pretty good in my opinion. There are parts books available, either original or reprint. Ebay is a good source for original manuals, both owners and parts. There are many places to get parts, most notably Rice Equipment in Clarion, PA, or Tom Underwood in Lawrence, KS. But there are many others out there. Do a Google serach and you should have no problem finding gaskets.

Since this can be extremely difficult, you may want to fabricate the item or purchase a modern replacement temporarily, but eventually, you s
