Well, looks like you have your answers...but wanted to add that if your tractor is stored inside that will go a long way towards saving that manifold. Don't bother painting it or anything...nothing will stick to the upper parts, just burns off. Like any exhaust component, it will benefit from being used long enough to heat up and burn out any condensation. I guess you could fatten up the fuel mixture to coat that manifold (and your plugs, etc) with more unburned fuel, but you will find that you spend more money on fuel and other parts, so that really isn't an option. If the manifold you bought is a nice solid one it will last you many years and you will not be changing it again until you either have much less hair or a lot more gray. well heck, if you own old tractors I guess that might not be all that long but you get my drift. By the way, been parking my stuff on a dirt floor since I was 5 years old and my only tractor was a Huffy 5 horse. Never saw any huge problems except for it is easier to lose nails/etc in a dirt floor and thus spend a bit more time plugging tires. Since I bought a wheeled magnet thingy I have avoided those problems for the most part. Have fun!
