Where is the light switch? My mind's a little blank at this moment, but isn't the ammeter right above the light switch in that oval box? If the switch is gone, hasn't somebody been at the wiring? I don't believe there is any way the ammeter can show positive deflection unless there are amps moving in that direction. Sounds to me like the wires are backwards and who knows what else.
