I probably am going to ask you some questions that you have already answered but, is it in a recessed area, and how deep is the recess. Can you only get a socket on it Suggestion: get a Metric six sided deep socket that is smaller and can be driven down on the plug. You may destroy the socket but it is better than the other. You will probably only have one shot at it, so make it good.
