Bob – Any common resistor with the proper resistance value will work. If memory serves the correct value is 3.2 ohms - though I am not certain. However actual resistance is not critical anything 2 to 6 ohm range should work. The resistor should be rated for at least 5 watts.

However unless you are a stickler for originality I’d replace the cutout relay with a voltage regulator. A regulator provides much better charge control and will extend battery life by not under- or over-charging the battery. It’ll be $35 well spent!!
