I think I may have seen a post a year or so ago where someone said to beware of hitting submerged immovables (my wording). I believe they warned of breaking the bell housing if your frame mounts back there. I've a '47 H I've plowed snow with for one whole winter so, for what that experience is worth, it works fine for me. My front plow frame runs to the rearmost threaded mount hole on the frame rail. I would imagine if you hit something hard enough, that setup would break the bell housing as well but perhaps you'd want to find a frame that bolts just to the rails. Another important detail is to make sure whatever blade you use has a spring trip. Did the fellow say don't put a front blade on a 100 or tractors in general? There are quite of few (O.K., a zillion) posts where folks report no problems at all with pushing snow. They seem to represent the whole farmall spectrum.
