Super M Wiring

This post is for Bob Melville or anyone else who can help. I have a 1953 Super M with factory LP. It has a 12 volt generator (not original) and a ballast resistor in line on the wire from the positive side of the coil. Most of the other wiring is gone or in such disrepair that I can't be sure where everything was supposed to go. Additionally, I believe the original on/off switch has been bypassed as there is an aftermarket switch with a wire running to the starter switch. Should the wiring be the same as for stock M super M except add the resistor since the generator is now 12 volt? Thanks in advance.
