I'm not positive about the original WFE's but the narrow front ends had a special high head bolt that went in the right front hole (As you sit on the tractor) when you bolted the lower bolster onto the upper bolster. This high head kept you from oversteering either direction. It is possible you sheered the raised head off of that bolt.
