Since you rebuilt the carb you probably got the power jet or another hole in the carb plugged by dirt, very easy to do. I even put the float bowl gasket in backwards once which caused the same lean condition!! Double check the power jet setting-it only comes into play when you open the throttle. Since you have a mag it may not be putting out enough energy, but my money is on the carb. Let us know what you find.
