Tom, I have had a '53 JD 60 for 23 years and just got a '53 Super M. The JD is great, but has a too fast reverse. PTO is 42 hp. Not good for finish mower because power is not smooth(2 cyl). You must have PS with a loader and the hand clutch is not good unless you have three hands. I prefer the hand clutch for the bush hog and blade. It is great for bush hog, blade and downright pulling, this thing is strong. Super M is 46 pto hp, smooth power (Probably not the lugging power of the 60) and seems to be easier to steer. (Both are narrow front). I think reverse is slower than the 60 too. M is about the same tractor except for slightly less power. They are both great machines, I have the best of both worlds. Agree with others that prices are a bit high, especially the M. JD are running pretty high but the 60s are not as bad as the 620-630s, they are ridiculous. I think they are both about $500-1000 high for this area. I just got my SM in Arkansas with 3pt and 50% tires for $1100 but it needs paint.
