Never tested this theory, but . . . When the magnet gets charged, the keeper is charged at the same time (may not hold the charge as well as the magnet). If you then test the pull required to separate the magnet from the keeper, the magnetism remaining in the keeper should add to the pull required. If you put the keeper back on and don't get the same exact spot, you won't get the full strength of both magnets added together. Make sense?
