The IH live pump from a super M 400 and 450 will work. I tried to change the front cover on my 49 M, but couldn't get the front pully off. The bottom 2 bolts of the pump fit, it is the top 2 that are off a little. I took 2, 3/8 eye bolts and opened the eyes enough to put the end of the eye in the top holes and ran a bolt through the hole in front of the the oil fill. Made a bracket for the eye bolts to hook to. Painted it red and it works fine. unless you look hard, you don't see the eye bolts. I know its not the way IH intended it, but I use this tractor and needed the live hydraulics. Love the M with the live pump. When you put the pump in, there is a punch marks on the pump gear and the timing gear. line them up. make sure you have the motor on TDC before you take the distributor off and it will line up easy
