When you had the head off, was any thing done to it? Did this just start after the head was off, or was it doing it some before also? Does it use oil? Possibilities are that you have worn or stuck rings on your pistons. Working the engine hard will heat up the combustion chamber and oil more vaporizing it and making it more susceptible to fogging and moving out with compression gasses by passing the rings. Another possibility is that the exhaust valve guides are worn to the point that they are letting exhaust gas past into the head, also pushing out oil vapors with the escaping exhaust gas.
