No There is a small beveled one thatkeeps it tight in the bushing. Most starters have one but I think its usally at the drive end but the shaft is smaller at the comulator end so its in the right spot. Then a washer at the other end . It is the same as the cub manual. Maybe the starter drive that was in this was not installed crectly or something. The new one will be here with UPS today just waiting to see if anything jumps out at me when it gets here. JON
