Hook a 12 Volt test light to the (-) primary coil terminal connected to the points, and crank the engine over with the ignition "ON". The test light should flash "ON" and "OFF" as the points open and close. If the light NEVER comes on, you have no power to the coil, a bad coil, points that aren't opening or a short in the points/condensor area. If the light never BLINKS OFF, you have an open circuit between the coil and the points, or dirty points that are not making contact.
