I have a "51 Farmall H, and I converted it to 12 volt and kept the 6 volt starter. Works fine. However, about once or twice a year, the starter will lock up for some odd reason. I have heard of this same thing happening to others who converted to 12 volt. Possibly the extra voltage??. If that happens, all you do is loosen the two nuts that hold it on and jiggle the starter a few times and retighten the nuts, and it will then work fine again.
