Stepped head pistons will increase your compression...thus increasing HP some. The compression is rather low on a lot of these old tractors...allowing you to use a lesser grade of fuel. If you are going to change out pistons anyway, go ahead and use the stepped ones..compression will still be low enough for regular unleaded gas.
