The stepped head pistons will increase the compression, and power, but require more effort to start the engine. If you still are running a 6-volt system, it will need to be in good to excellent condition to start in the winter. (Heavy cables, clean connections, etc, etc…) A 12-volt system will be more forgiving to corroded terminals etc. I would go with the stepped pistons, unless you never need any more power than you had and you can save money.
