Just got my tractormeter (400D) repaired by Bates, and they did a great job for $160 (which is also an ouch). BUT, when I went to investigate the distributor gear and housing that drives the cable, and found both worn out, IH parts said $141 for the housing and $47 for the little gear. The housing is made of something like pot metal and the gear is plastic, both about the size of a large thumb. Funny thing is, the last person that tried to repair the housing used JB Weld to fill in a worn out place, and NOW I KNOW WHY! At least the parts are available, I just can"t justify spending that much (at least during this period of shock). Anyone know where I can get them cheaper?
