Common problem, takes patience. The idiot previous owner that pulled the head off my C used a large screw driver, and cut a groove so deep the head had to be milled. Get a rigid flat putty knife (any hardware store, I forget the name of the knife), and gently tap it in at several places, it will come loose, and won't damage the head or block if you are careful.
