The Thompson governor package was designed and marketed by the Thompson brothers, who ran a general repair garage in Cicero, IN, back in the '50s and '60s. The rights were sold to someone else at some point, but I don't know who. The previous response concerning the Rocket governor may be on the right track. I've got two tractors that received the Thompson units in the early 1960s, and they were the best available at that time.
