Folks are finding out here, and while some still are loath to admit that those states that have passed laws legalizing the carrying of side arms, have actually reduced gun related crime, the fact is that the criminals realize that anyone at anytime may be in the position to thwart their deed. Some in law enforcement have had to eat their words, as they were the ones who have lobied the hardest for gun control, thinking that it would make their job safer, but the exact opposite happened. Gun laws did nothing to keep guns out of the criminal"s hands, only the law abiding citizens. The unintended consequences of strict gun laws made both law enforcement and criminals more brazen. Both of which are disasters waiting to happen. A well armed citizenry keeps both elements honest. I firmly believe that an unregulated law enforcement, or a criminal with just one illegal gun can wreak more havoc on society, than Joe citizen can or will with a house full of guns. It still saddens me tho when an officer goes down because of a criminal who shows little or no regard for human life, but will beg for his own when his own is in jeopardy.
