Check Isreal- about 1/2 the women there get drafted at 18 (religious exemption for about 30%) and learn to use small arms. Reserve duty keeps them available until about 35, civil defense from about 35 to 50. Assigned weapons vary from galils, m16s, AK47s to Berreta and Browning pistols. Private purchase pistols available for women. Crime rate other that terrorist actions is low. Rape for Israeli women low. Arab women with no training or weapons in PLO area tend to be hurt much more often. Druze and Christian families subject to draft/training tend to have rates close to Isreali secular rates. Draft women here for militia duties, require them to pack and watch if crime rate drops to close to Isreali rate. RN.
