Tquaiter, when you open the drain on the carb do you have gas running out a good stream? You have almost solved your problem..good spark, only runs when sprayed with starter fluid= no fuel flow. Disconnect the fuel line into the carb to see if there is good flow, if so its in the carb..likely a float stuck or rubbing on the side. Check it this way. Get a spray bottle and fill with gasoline, mist fuel into the carb as you turn it over, if it starts to fire keep misting and keep it running...now you can be sure its carb/float. You have good signs, your compression is good , it runs on external fuel source...you'll have it purring in no time....Mike in Exeter Ontario
