Years ago when dad bought our C, the ring gear was worn. Before starting, we would put it in fourth and rock it a little to move the flywheel a little and then hit the starter. We finally split it and we heated the ring gear to turn it on the flywheel. We had the flywheel sitting on top of a block of firewood and when it loosened up it dropped down around the wood. We took the flywheel off the block and flipped it and set it on the floor and then proceeded to put the ring gear back on. However, we forgot to flip the ring gear as well so we put it on backwards. Dad took a file and touched up the teeth. That's been a loooooooong time ago and the only problem we've had with it starting is getting a good ground to the battery. Solved that by bolting the ground cable to the hydraulic unit. Spins it over like we had a 12 volt in it.
