Bob, Didnt mean to get your dander up! I had a 2424 that if you didnt use the PTO very often the 2 clutch discs would rust togetherand would not work correctly. I would have to break it loose by using a bush hog. I have heard that this is a common occurance with the 2 stage. As far as comparing it to a Ford, it would run circles around one! THe 424 isnt as popular an the N series and arent as well known either, consequently they dont bring the $$. I gave 1500.00 for mine with good rubber and tin ran excellent, but the clutch was stuck also.
