Hi Hugh, I have no idea why other folks prefer one model over another other than just my own limited experience dictates. For me, it was the changes in higher pump injection pressures and the higher compression at 22:1, which made them more fuel-efficient and this in turn, put an end to that belching black smoke and also made for a far easier starting tractor. The accompanying downside was that with the advent of the 66s, a feller either learned real quick to wear ear protectors or lost his hearing, as they are quite a bit louder, horsepower for horsepower, than the 06s and the 56s. Other than the engine change, they are pretty much the same identical tractors as the previous models save the cosmetic overhaul, which just gave them a newer, more modern "bulldog-tough" appearance. Heck, I even get wound up when I see a clean old John Deere 37A come straight off the farm. It is where they've been and what they've done that gets my blood moving. Like talking to a World War II vet; to this day, I'm still in total awe of their moxie. Allan
