Yes I would say if its the timing that caused it that you did not get compression stroke when you timed it. Alot of time they back fire back through the carb when there 180 off so I guess if you got gas there and a back fire it could do something like that. If you try to start it again and it justs pops or does not start you can move your plug wire 180 on the cap and that will tell you if you installed the mag 180 off.
