IN the archives of this site Bob M has a great wiring diagram for the 12 volt alternator. You mut have the 3 wire alternator instead of 1 wire. I would get one of the plastic plugs that goes into the spot with the 2 male spade connectors. You can pick up one at a parts car parts place. I didn't hve one on mine at first, used the spade connectors, then I shorted one and put in a new regulator. If your setup is currently 12 volts, and if you have a 12 voldt, negative ground electronic ignition you shouldn't need the resister. If you still have a 6 volt positive ground setup with electronic ignition, you will have a problem as you can not reverse the polarity on them. The #1 wire from the alternator goes to your amp guage I believe. IN that wire you need a small resister, a diode or a light bulb in order to keep it from back feeding when you try to turn your tractor off.
