If you have to take it apart, check the float level first. Also the threads on the needle valve cage, and depending on the design (I don't know about the 300 U), the main jet sit below the gas level and can be possible sources for leaks. Use Permatex High Temperature Sealer - works like a charm. Usually these will manifest themselves a slow leaks that become apparent after hours or days. A stuck float will usually let you know right away. If all of these sources are eliminated, you will need to consider the possibility that you have a bad needle and cage assembly. In any event, it may be frustrating for a bit, but you can definately fix this. Good Luck.
