Possible to replace condensor without removing mag

I have a tired Super A that doesn"t run particularly well and thought I would do a carburetor rebuild and ignition tune-up before diving into individual problems. I went to replace the condenser and it seems the access cover is on the engine side of the magneto. The only thing on the outside is the center post of the magneto. I pulled on it a little but it seems to me that it should come out the other side.

Am I missing something? Can the condenser be replaced with the magneto in place? If so, how? I read the service manual that I bought of ebay and it doesn"t discuss condenser replacement in the ignition section.
