195 1 Farmall Cub...HELP

I just bought a 1951 Farmall Cub fromt he original owner. Cub is in nice shape, but, had not been run in many years. We took it home & w/in 20 minutes had it running nicely. After about an hour, it just died...I heard a "crackling" noise coming from the coil & it was HOT. I dissconnected the battery...let the coil cool down & took it out...I looked @ the cap & rotor & they look fine, so, I think I just need a new coil. Can I just go to Napa & get any 12V coil? Also, the tractor came w/ hydraulics & has a york rake & plow....the pump is a little low on fluid (still works o.k., do I just add 30W oil??
