Skip, I rebuilt my '47 H's carb, checked the float level at a machine shop where they had the measurement tools to get it right. In spite of these efforts, I had a problem with the float sticking. Every time I'd go to start it - even with the shutoff at the sediment bowl closed - I'd pull the air cleaner pipe off the intake port on the carb and catch a little pour of gas. Per a suggestion found on this forum, I gave some rapping bangs on the side of the bowl of the carb and that float sticking problem hasn't reappeared in five months of snow-pushing use. Hope your solution is that easy.
