Distibutor location on H

I was looking at my H today and noticed that the distibutor and coil are positioned vertically, not horizatally as I've seen in my repair and operator's manual. The coil is located behind the dist. looking from the front of the tractor. I've never noticed this until today. When did IH change the position of these and does it make any differance? TIA Rich
