Ever watch those hot rod car shows on TV? They're always doing how-tos on repairing holes in sheet metal. Basically, you have to cut out the rusty area and replace with a patch of new metal. If you want it to look nice, you would make the patch fit IN the hole, not over it. Then you take a mig welder and stitch it in. Finally, you grind it down smooth. The end result is that you can't tell it was repaired. For the other box? Send it to me as payment for this advice :) Just kidding, but seriously if you want to get rid of it for a reasonable price, I'd be willing.
