I've seen hard freezes in the middle of May, not too often though. Do you use liquid fertilizer
when planting corn? They use a lot of it around
here when planting then go back and side dress
several times during the growing season. That's what I did, but most farmers are using no till and
do it all in one pass across the field.

My late father-in-law was a dairy farmer too and
when my mother-in law saw them planting using no till; she said that won't grow any corn. Later that summer I showed her the corn which was very tall and green. Hal
