I think using the oven is a lot better than a torch. Nice even heat, and you will be amazed how well it works. The first time I did it I thought my ring gear was too big, it just dropped right on. Sure enough it tightened up though. To get the old one off, you can either pound it off with a punch and hammer, or heat it a bit first with a torch.
