You ARE running out of oil. The belly pump only holds a few quarts, and you've got those huge 48" (or longer) cylinders to fill.

As someone else said, you have to plumb the top end of the cylinders back into the fill tube on your belly pump, and get them filled with oil. That way, as the pump sends oil to the bottom of the cylinder, the tops refill the belly pump so it can keep on pumpin'. On the way back down, the cylinders suck the excess oil back out and store it until the next time.
