Power steering on an M was never offered from the factory, but a lot of Ms and Hs did recieve power steering as an aftermarket add-on. The two most popular brands of power steering was the Char-lyn and the Behlen. It sounds like what you are describing is the Char-lyn. It looks profesional because it was engineered and designed to fit that tractor. Power steering was one of the best add-ons a person could do.
