CNKS: I agree 100%, the date may vary across this continant, but those planting date tell the truth every time. I always said, " Corn seed that takes more than 10 days to emerge is corn seed better left in the bag." I like to see it in 7 or 8 days. I had a neighbor,(now deseased) back in Nova Scotia, always claimed if you could remove your trousers and underwear and comfortably sit bare buff in the soil for 1/2 hour it was time to plant corn. I never saw him do this. I have never tried this, however at times in early spring, having had to lie on ground under some piece of equipment repairing something, I am not about to question his judgement.
