I have to agree with Jay. I know that I’d like to check out the rest of the pump, relief spring etc while I had the pan off. You might even want to shake the rods a bit to make sure you don’t have some real excessive clearance in a rod bearing. (I’m presuming that the reason you pulled the pan is that you had low oil pressure.) While you’re in there you might want to check out the crankshaft bearings too.
