It's an outstandingly poor design by IH. My screen was collapsed also, like Harold's,and that's probably the typical case. The "T-screen" hangs down two or three inches below the gasket surface, and is thus prone to mechanical damage when you're taking it apart. Sounds as though you're getting ready to do some heavy hydraulic work, including going in after this rascal. It so, make sure you lift the cover straight up, and have a plan/place to set it down, or you'll probably end up replacing the screen whether it really needs it or not - was about $70 from CaseIH a couple of years back. It's also very helpful to pull all the valves off the side to reduce the weight and put the center of gravity in the middle when you're pulling the cover; thing's awfully heavy and awkward in any case. It's a good job to get some good help with.
