As oil warms up its viscosity changes and it gets thinner. Because it is thinner, it moves through the small openings in the engine easier. This is good because then it is getting where it should and lubricating, but bad because it will also move out of where it should be through small holes or worn areas. Brain has a good place to start with the oil pump, and yes there is a very thin gasket which may also have a blown out spot. I’d suggest checking that first, my B had the same issues your SA does and I found a blown out pump gasket. If the oil pump doesn’t seem to be the problem or fix your oil pressure issues, then it’s time to pull the crankshaft bearings (both rods and mains) and check them for scoring or excessive wear. If that you find a bearing or bearings that are bad, then just because I’m a fanatic, I’d pull the engine and go through it from top to bottom and install new camshaft bearings. A lot of those old engines were overhauled “in frame” and the camshaft bearings have never been replaced. They do wear and can be the cause for low oil pressure also.
