My 300U had a 12V battery but the original 1955 6Volt coil with no resistor.Needless to say,thats why it didnt run when I bought it...the coil overheated and oil poured out.Replacing the coil with a 12V and the proper resistor solved that trouble (and I saved $300 off the purchase price because it didnt run).
