Bad Battery?

The battery on my Super C is constantly bubbling throught the vent caps. Even when the tractor is not running. When I got the tractor, the area under the battery was etched pretty bad (no battery box), so I guess it"s been going on for a while. The battery is also a little weak; I charged it for several days, and it still will barely turn the engine over, just enough to start it. I guess I should toss it and get a new battery? Thanks,
