I had the same problem. If you don't need to use the belt pulley, I have a solution to how I fixed it. A picture of it is on the "Parts & Pieces" link at the left. Under: "1951 Farmall C-Belt Pulley Shaft Cover", I think it is about the 4th or 5 page. I also sent a note into the forum, couldn't get the photo on, but if you type "Belt Pulley Shaft Cover for Farmall C" in the search block, and hit the go button, the notes will come up.
