Mike: Having said what I did about 4 day parties, ironically Newfoundlanders being just about as far as you get from the US border in Canada, have a Newfoundland drinking song. One of the lines in that song goes like this, " For the second time since we've been here, it's getting dark again." I once attended one of their functions, and a group called the Irish Descendants were performing this song. Those guys were belting out this song and man they looked like they had been there for two sunsets. Shortly after moving to Ontario, I met a guy down in St Thomas, who in his daily routine worked with a lot of Newfoundlanders. He was of the opinion that no one anywhere else in Canada knew how to enjoy a party as much as Newfoundlanders. Newfoundlanders unlike the Americans who left the fold in 1776, only joined the fold in 1949. Believe me a good many of them have had their regrets since.
