Ron you will have to have the pump rebuilt, I never saw a broken shaft that the head of the pump was not bad. When you put the pump back on don't try and start the engine untill you have good fuel at the injectors with the lines loose, then put the lines on with a good half throttle crank untill you get white smoke then us the glow plugs. Remember this engine should not start without the glow plugs. good lock By the way the shaft is ment to brake to protect the pump when things go wrong.
