It is entirely possible to make new bushings. Brass is probably the best material. Just make sure you drill through the oil supply hole, and ream or bore them to fit loosely, ie .004 to .007 larger than the shaft. Some of the original bushings were babbit, and can be repoured and then bored and reamed, but replacing them with brass is much easier.
